Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopian professional took part in a workshop delivered by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and held on January 23, 2020 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at Hyatt Regency Hotel under the title “Excellence in Financial Reporting”.

Focusing on the benefits and the challenges on the practical implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) during the preparation and presentation of financial reporting, the workshop has been conducted for one-day incorporating AABE experts with a total of 50 participants from report entities mainly from private and government banks, insurance companies, private organization and the Ministry of Finance.

According to the trainees “as it gave a chance for knowledge, skill and technology transfer, having an opportunity to get involved and attended on the work shop provided by a well advanced and known worldwide firm will help the participant trainees of report entities of AABE deliver quality oriented services and at the same time strengthen and play key role while they implement the standards and prepare financial report”.

The newly Appointed director General of AABE, W/ro Hikmet Abdela, was one of the panelist. She explained on the implementation of IFRS, IPSASs and ISAs. She also addressed to questions such as lack of professional on actuaries, on the threshold in distinguishing reporting entities, especially in relation to ECX members raised by participants. She also expressed her keen interest in working with PWC in enhancing capacity building, which is critical in implementing the standards.”

W/ro Hikmet furthermore in her say as a panelist added that “for AABE, whose objectives and mission mainly among others are to administer and regulate the full implementation of IFRS, the invitation to participate in the workshop is an additional opportunity to strengthen its capacity in the area to achieve its goals and even not in country but also to strengthen the cross border trade transaction as a continent of Africa.
